Corollaries to that Saying that the Opposite of Love is Indifference, Not Hate

Why do people hate?

They hate because they love

Those that they gaze down on

But can’t seem to rise above.

Why do people love?

They love because they hate

The thought of hurting someone

And begging forgiveness too late.

Why do people love?

They love because they hate

The thought of losing sight of those

Who allow them to see straight.

Why do people hate themselves?

They hate themselves because they know

There’s fertile space inside them

Where love could but doesn’t grow.

Why do people hate themselves?

They hate themselves because they know

There’s electric light inside them

That could but doesn’t glow.

Why do people kill?

They kill because they die.

They are because they aren’t.

They speak the truth because they lie.

Why do people love themselves?

They love themselves because despite

Their demons planting hateful lies,

They accept their truth as right.
