At Sephora

I see my eyes –not through them, but them — in the mirror,

picture them as reflections in men’s pupils

leaning in to condemn or appraise me

I resist and shrug

from the evaluating gaze.

I must treat the problem

Then treat the treatment

Then buy more stuff to sulk under:

Retail therapy

for a capitalist malaise.
